Postal Services in Russia
Postal Services in Russia have improved greatly since the disintegration of the Soviet Union and mail delivery is relatively efficient for a country this large. Despite this there are still numerous cases of late delivery and mail theft. Hence it is advisable not to send valuables via mail. Mail collection from mailboxes is poor and you stand a better chance of having your mail sent by handing it in directly at a post office. You can also arrange to collect your mail at a post office.
Postal services in Russia are operated by the Federal Postal Communication Agencies and about 60 licensed private operators.
There are also a number of International Mail companies in the country including; FedEx, DHL and UPS which are reliable especially when sending packages overseas. There are post offices in even small towns. Post office operating times are usually 8am to 7pm Monday to Saturday.
