Sakha Republic
The Republic of Sakha is one of Russia’s autonomous republics occupying approximately 3,103,200 km2 in eastern Russia making the largest administrative region in the country.
The Republic is also commonly referred to by locals as Yakutia. Sakha has a population of about a million people. Although Russian is the national language, the Yakut language is widely spoken in Sakha. The region is home to numerous rivers and lakes such as the River Lena which is the largest, the Mogoteyovo Lake and Nerpichye Lake.
Economy:
Sakha is rich in natural resources and a leading world producer of diamonds. Mining is a prominent industry in the region and minerals found here include; gold, crude oil, natural gas and coal.

Yakutsk:
is the capital of Sakha with a population of just under 300,000 people. The city is home to 14 museums that some of which showcase magnificent jewelry collections featuring some of the best diamonds ever found in Sakha. The City is notorious for experiencing extremely cold weather conditions during winter.
