The City of Kaliningrad is the Capital of the administrative region of Kaliningrad. The City was since its founding in 1255 known as Konigsburg and its name was changed to Kaliningrad in 1946.

Population:

The City has an estimated 419,000 residents.

Economic activities:

Activities at the city’s port are a major economic activity. Industries here include; food processing, fishing, paper and pulp and machinery.
Tourism and tourist attractions:

With centuries of history under its belt, Kaliningrad has a number of ancient buildings and sites to visit such as the Konigsberg Cathedral, the Amber Museum and the victory square in the city centre. The city also has museums, a zoo, restaurants and pubs.

Transport:

The City is served by the Khrabovo Airport which caters mainly for domestic inter-city flights. Public transport within the city is mainly by tram or bus.
