Moscow
Moscow is the Capital City of Russia and was also the Capital of the former Soviet Union. This is an important City in Russian history, being more than 8 centuries old and initial records of a town known as Moscow date back to 1147. The City was the scene of the “Battle of Moscow” fought between invading German and Russian armies which resulted in the defeat of the Germans. Moscow is also the main commerce hub for Russia, and is the headquarters for most local and foreign financial institutions in the country. The city is an important cultural and religious base. It is home to the famous Saint Basil’s Cathedral. Moscow has for centuries been a major entertainment city in Eastern Europe, famous for its performing arts.
This is also the largest city in Russia with a population of about 10.5 million residents. The people of Moscow are known as Muscovites.

Moscow has a steadily growing tourism industry, the city has tolerable crime levels mainly restricted to petty theft and usual care should be taken. Moscow has lots to offer the visitor; this is an interesting city with centuries full of history on display at museums, monuments and buildings around town.
Major attractions in Moscow are; the Saint Basil’s Cathedral, the Monument of Peter the Great (said founder of the city), the Kremlin Building, Victory Park, Red Square, the Hermitage Gardens and the Kuz’minki Park just to name a few. The City also has a number of museums and art galleries. The entertainment scene here is very active. There are a number of pubs, nightclubs, movie theatres and restaurants.
