Veliky Novgorod City:
Novgorod is an historic Russian City and probably the oldest in the Country established in the 9th Century BC and was during this period the second most important City in the Russian Empire after Kiev. Today Novgorod maintains its historic feel which is present in its architecture and on display at local museums. The City is one of the most populous in the Country with an estimated 1.4 million residents and is the Capital of the Nizhniy Novgorod Region.
Novgorod Economy:
Novgorod has a healthy and fairly large industrial sector which specializes in; mechanical engineering, wood and timber, food processing, chemicals, electronics and building materials.
Tourism in Novgorod:
There are a number of well preserved centuries old buildings and monuments to see. These include; the Nereditsa Church, the St Sophia Cathedral, Pozharsky Square, Blagoveshensky Monastery, the Nizhniy Novgorod Kremlin Building, the Volzhsky Oktos Embankment and the State Bank Building.
The Oka and Volga Rivers converge within Novgorod flowing downstream. The City is also home to a vibrant entertainment scene. There are a number of nightclubs, pubs and the restaurants here serve the best in Russian and foreign cuisine.

The City is served by the Yurievo domestic airport though rarely do flights operate from here.
