Public holidays and opening hours in Russia

Normal operating business hours for businesses and government institutions in Russia are from 9.00 am though banks and many shops open for customers at 10.00 am. And closing hours are between 6 and 7 pm. These hours apply from Monday to Friday, though some banks open on Saturdays between 10am and 6pm. General Stores and Shopping Centers stay open seven days a week except on some public holidays.

Public Holidays:

Some public holidays celebrated during the Soviet era were dropped from the Russian calendar. Holidays falling on weekend dates are usually carried to the Monday of the next week.

  •  Orthodox Christmas on the 7th January.
  •  Women’s day on the 8th of March.
  •  Labor and spring days on the 1st of May.
  •  Good Friday and Easter Holidays.
  •  Victory day on the 9th of May.
  •  Independence Day on the 12th of June.
  •  Harmony, unity and reconciliation day on the 7th of November.
